Setting up 60 yrs ago as a classical songs competition in the Roman theatre at Caesarea, the now Jerusalem-based mostly Competition has expanded its remit more than the many years and has a landmark birthday to rejoice. Founded by Leonard Bernstein, the Pacific Audio Competition has nurtured around 3,500 young musicians from 77 countries throughout its 30-calendar year background. Leonard Slatkin and the Formosa Quartet are amongst the College associates combining tuition and masterclasses with concert-giving. The TMAF All-Star concert features the chamber reduction of Richard Strauss’s Until Eulenspiegel, when Slatkin heads up the Academy Orchestra for a 3-concert tour prefacing Beethoven’s Eroica Symphony with Ravel and Prokofiev.
